If you’re looking to get into drawing and graphic software to test your creative skills, then DrawPlus 4 will fill the bill admirably. With this free drawing and graphic package from Serif Software, you can produce vector graphics, high-impact graphics, and even web animations with tools usually only available in high end applications.
DrawPlus 4 is a vector drawing program, like the very expensive CorelDraw, which means the drawing is in editable layers. On top of that, DrawPlus is also a graphics design program that allows you to create logos, high quality print graphics, artwork, drawings, animations, labels and more.
The straightforward and intuitive interface is powerful yet simple, so that first time users, (like me – with no graphic skills), will get the professional quality results they want – fast! I’m told by friends that are users, that this program is great for making avatars; although I haven’t tried this myself.
If you like special effects, DrawPlus 4 is loaded with them, so it’s easy to create high impact text for headlines, logos, banners, Web pages, or wherever your imagination takes you. You can add bitmap, conical, ellipse, plasma, radial and linear fills to your creations to produce spectacular results.
DrawPlus supports industry standard bitmap and vector formats including: JPEG, BMP, EMF, WMF and PNG for the Web.
This application was previously a commercial program (released in 2002, I believe) but it still contains much of the functionality of pricey, newer releases. Serif’s objective in releasing older versions of their current programs is to hopefully have at least some users upgrade to current versions of their software.

How to put google adsense block in the middle of the post

In normal cases all blogger users can put the adsense block at the top of the post or at the bottom Only.
but the problem here is that alot of bloggers don’t get high CTR ( clicks ) by this placement,
so they should play with the ads placement,
the best solution here is to put you google ads blocks in the middle of the post in your blogspot blog.

and you have to check out Google AdSense heat map

blogger don’t offer this option by default settings, so you have to be tricky to do it,
here is easy and fast way to do it.

Procedure :--

go to your blogger account,
and navigate to Layout >> edit html,
and check check Expand Widget Templates
Find the tag : "<data :post.body/>"

In this post, I'll concentrate on actually embedding the music (rather than adding widgets such as Last.fm playlists). You can see an example of embedded background music here and also further down this page...

The easiest method of adding background sound is to include a line like this in your blog template, just after the opening <body> tag:

<bgsound src="http://yoursite.com/yoursound.mp3" loop=infinite>

where the URL is that of the background music you wish to use. This method works perfectly well, but visitors to your site will not be able to switch the music off if it becomes distracting.

This is achieved by including the following code somewhere in your template (eg: the sidebar):

You can change some of the variables to suit your needs:

autostart: set to "true" to make the music begin as soon as the page is loaded, or "false" to ensure the user has to press the play icon
loop: set to "true" to have the music play over and over, or "false" so that it plays only once.
height: if this is set to "40", only the play options will be visible. You can make this larger if you prefer, in which case blank space will be visible.

Using either method, you can link to .mp3, .mid or .wav music files. However, you must be aware of copyright restrictions, and ensure you have the appropriate permission for use for the music you decide to use!

If you'd like to place the button below each one of your posts, follow these instructions. Installing this button will automatically put the button below each individual blog. This is the most popular implementation of the button for Blogger.

Step 1

Log into Blogger and select the blog you want to add AddThis to. Select Layout > Edit HTML. These controls look like tabs, and they're located at the top of the page.

Step 2

Blogger Template Tricks for meta char and Google search Engine!!!

The old Blogger templates didn't have fancy drag-and-drop widgets, but it felt like they had more control with the special <$Blogger...$> tags. That is until I truly started to understand the new template structure. Now you can create templates which allow for drag-and-drop while showing/hiding pieces of code or widgets themselves on specific pages. For this post, I wanted to show you some useful things I've found out how to do.

Let me explain I'm going to be working with the raw HTML on the Template tab under Edit HTML. Please do us a favor and backup your current template HTML by copying it into NotePad/TextPad. Additionally, remember to check the box labeled Expand Widget Templates otherwise Blogger hides the tags we'll be modifying. And finally, don't worry too much about messing things up. The blog's data is not being modified, neither are the URL's, and you can always revert your template by pasting your backup into the template HTML textarea.

Prevent Archive Page Indexing

Using a clever robots meta tag and Blogger's conditional layout tags you can prevent search engines from indexing archive pages, but still let spiders find and follow links within them. Archive pages can be useful to users who want to browse your site, but they're terrible to arrive at from Google or another search engine. The problem is they can get intimidatingly large and are confusing to visitors unsure of exactly what post/wording to look for.

Place your meta tags immediatley after <b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/> or <head> in your template.

Don't index any archive page:

Even though I said there's no danger in messing with your template, screwing up your robots tag is a bad problem. Make sure you view the HTML on the output of your blog to ensure that it's not putting this on all pages; check and double-check. If Google is told not to index a page, then it may not revisit that URL for indexing - ever. You can't be sure and it's a pain to fix indexing problems. That is, it's easy to get removed from the index, but difficult to get put back in!

Show on Main Page Only

Many sites have splash text, a table of contents, or something else that is only shown on the front page of their site. This allows new users to become familiar with the layout and goal without being inundated with brand-spanking-new posts about who knows what.

Adding front-page-only content is slightly complicated and error-prone, so put on your rubber gloves and let's dive in. What you'll need to do is make it so your main pane can have widgets added to it, add an HTML/JavaScript widget, and then modify it so it only shows up on the main index page. All conditional layout affects widgets in Blogger's new template system, so you can't simply hard-code some content and have it conditionally shown or hidden.

1. Allow Widgets in Posts Area:
Find the "main" section in your template code, it will probably have an attribute that says showaddelement='no'. That's part of the reason why you can't add new page elements to the main post area. The other is it needs a new attribute called maxwidgets which should be greater than one. So, change that whole tag to the following:

Save the template.

2. Add a HTML/JavaScript Widget:

Enter the Page Template GUI, the main area should now have the familiar "Add Page Element" above the "Posts" section. Click it, pick the HTML/JavaScript, and type in whatever text you want to see on the front page.

3. Modify Widget to Only Appear on Main Page:

Head back into the template code and find your new widget, make sure "Expand Widget Templates" is checked! Add the following immediately after <b:includable id='main'>:

Today morning, I was awake with numerous SMS beeps and not regular alarm tone. These SMSes were from Google SMS channel. I’m subscribed to my own blog (www.unwireindia.com) just to test how SMS channel works for my readers. To my surprise google send same update 9 times.

At the moment where such free SMS service companies are struggling to monetize the SMSes, how can google send same SMS alert for 9 times in the span of 5 mins. I know it can be technical issue, but is Google expected to do so ?

I sincerely appologies to my SMS subscribers for such event (if they have received more than 1 sms for same alert). As you are aware, these things are beyond my control.

Most of the time these images are done by professional in-house web designers which most of us bloggers don’t have the skill or access to. Fortunately there are two sites I came across that can add this effect to any image you’d like to apply it to.

The First one is called RoundPic Which helps to cut the edge of the picture or image. Here’s the end result of one test image I created:

The Second one is called Wet Floor Maker which has several options such as angle, camera height, brightness, reflectivity, and more. Just upload your image and adjust the options to your liking and voila….you’ve got a cool new wet floor effect image. Here’s the end result of one test image I created:

The 3rd site is called Image Reflection Generator and it doesn’t have nearly as many options as Wet Floor Maker does. The final image did look a bit more professional, however but you have no control over the angle of the reflection which I don’t like. Here’s the same image but after converting it with Image Reflection Generator:

These are convenient and quick ways to create images with a wet floor effect without any photo editing experience. The one thing I don’t like about both of these sites is you can’t preview the image before you click the “create image” button. Several times the end result image wasn’t exactly what I wanted so I had to go back and start over again. Kind of a pain but since the service is free, I can live with it. Try both out and let me know which you like better!

Blogger templates by default don’t come with search engine optimized (SEO) title tags meaning you aren’t maximizing your blog to rank better in Google. If you take a look at your existing Blogger title you’ll see that blogger displays the blog name first then followed by your post title. They have it backwards so let’s get your blog setup properly.

Having a top rank in Google is the holy grail for anyone who has a website. Organic Google traffic is free advertising and how most bloggers (especially those just starting out) achieve visitors and traffic to their site. It all comes down to a simple numbers game. Essentially, more traffic = more money-making opportunities from your blog. The question is, how do you get ranked higher for my blog posts using Blogger?

Before I tell you how, let me give you a quick lesson is search engine optimization (aka SEO). There are two main components: “off-page” and “on-page” optimization. “Off-page” SEO refers to tactics such as link building. The more websites that point their links to your blog/website, the better. It’s a democratic way of showing Google that your site must be important if lots of people are pointing to it. Even more important with “off-page” inbound links is the actual link text (anchor text) that is used to point to your site.

Here’s my proof. If you search Google for the term “click here” you’ll see that Adobe Reader and Apple’s Quicktime software are in the top 3 results. Why? Because so many other sites are linking to these two sites with “click here” as the anchor text to download their software. That’s the power of “off-page” SEO which you as a blogger can’t do much about besides writing such great unique content that generates lots of links.

So with “on-page” SEO you have complete control over how well you’re optimized for Google. This includes keywords in your post titles, title tags, using header tags (h1, h2) and other tactics. Now the one we’re going to focus on in this article is the blog title tag.

Title tags are one of the most (if not the most) important “on-page” elements to ranking high in Google. Search engines such as Google weigh the importance of each word in the title from left to right. So ideally you want your blog post title all the way to the left and your actual blog name to the right. Below is a perfect example of how this should look.

We’re going to have to make a quick edit to your Blogger template which might intimidate some of you but it’s very small and painless. All I ask you to do first is to backup your template just in case you make a boo boo. That makes it easy to revert back without much headache.

Step #1

In your Blogger dashboard, go to “Layout” => “Edit HTML”.

Step #2

In the template code, do a search for this: <code>

</code>. It’s usually in the first 5-10 lines of code in your template near the top.

Step #3

Replace that bit of code with the following code:

How to Add a Favicon to your Site ?

A Favicon is a little custom icon that appears next to a website's URL in the address bar of a web browser. They also show up in your bookmarked sites, on the tabs in tabbed browsers, and as the icon for Internet shortcuts on your desktop or other folders in Windows. And when I say little, I mean 16 pixels by 16 pixels. So if you like a good design challenge try your hand at this one.

All you need to add a Favicon to your site is a Windows Icon (.ico) file usually called favicon.ico that you upload to the main directory of your website. Nowadays, most browsers besides Internet Explorer can use a GIF (including animated ones) or PNG (including full transparency) instead. But since all browsers including IE understand the .ico format, and because it's got a lot of intriguing features that GIFs and PNGs don't, read on to find out how to make one.

1) General Guidelines

A favicon is nothing more than a 16 pixels by 16 pixels icon, and the file has a .ico extension. As you can imagine it is pretty difficult to put complex graphics in such a small frame. When designing your favicon, therefore, you should concentrate on simple images or letters. Make sure that the color of the favicon reflects the color of your website, so that readers will be able to associate the icon with the site.

2) Using Photoshop (skip this point if you are not using Photoshop)

Adobe Photoshop is probably the best alternative for a well-designed favicon. The standard Photoshop can not handle .ico, so the first thing to do is to download a Windows Icon Photoshop Plugin (you can download it here).

Once you have the Plugin installed you should create a 64 x 64 pixels canvas and start playing with it. After you are done designing the favicon you will need to resize the image. Go to the Image Size menu and click Resample Image. This process will make sure that the image will not blur as you scale it down. Finally just save the 16 x 16 image as “favicon.ico”�.

3) Using MS Paint and web tools

Favicons are very simple image icons, meaning that even Microsoft Paint should be enough to create a good looking one. The easiest way is to create a 32 x 32 pixels JPEG image with Paint and then use the online service “Favicon from Pics“� to convert the JPEG image into a favicon.ico file.

4) Uploading the favicon.ico file

Once you are done with the favicon.ico file you should upload it to your site. Just make sure you place it in the root directory, which is the directory where the index file is located.

If your new Favicon does not show up right away, try refreshing the page or clearing your cache — or put a '?' at the end of the url, which will trick a browser into thinking the page is new and not cached.

Pay attention to any readme files before using any free icons or graphics files.

If you would like to design your own icon, you can use IrfanView, Microsoft© Paint, or visit Goldshell.com and download the Goldicon editor and create your own icon. It's free!

You don't have to be an artist to create an icon, but it helps.
Your image is limited to 16 x 16 pixes, but to create one start with a larger image, say 32 x 32 and reduce it to 16 x16.

About your .ico image. Your .ico image size must be 16 by 16 pixels in height and width - no execeptions! Let's face it, an image this size is tiny and you can't get too creative. Take a look again . If you also want to dislay your favicon on your Wepage, you have to convert this image to a gif file (file extension .gif)).

Check your image. Using IrfanView you downloaded and installed on your PC, check your .ico image:

Make sure your image is sized to 16 Width 16 Height.
The number of color used is limited to 16.
Has a file name favicon and file extension of .ico (Windows icon).
Change your image size, number of colors and file name/extension - if required.
If you need help using IrfanView, click on IrfanView Help.

Upload your image. Next, Upload (FTP) this Favicon icon to your host in Binary Transfer Mode and place it in your root directory (which is the top directory for your Website) and where you have your html documents located.

Don't have a domain. Even if you don't have your own domain, you can still use a favicons on your site. But, you'll need to add the following code in between the HEAD Tags on each of your Webpages:

Where:

Clear your History and Cache files.
Clear your Recycle Bin.
Restart (reboot) your PC.
Bookmark your site. Your Favicon should appear.

How to Install Google Analytics on Blogger!!?

Wouldn’t it be nice to know how many people actually visited your blog each day? How about knowing which of your posts are the most popular? Well surprisingly Blogger doesn’t currently offer any native blog analytics but fortunately there is Google Analytics — available for free.

Google Analytics is a great tool that will show you all sorts of useful information about how people found your blog, keywords they searched on to find you, where they came from and even how long they stayed. You’ll learn more about where your visitors come from and how they interact with your blog. This is a must tool if you are trying to build a profitable blog otherwise you are flying blind!

This article will show you how to add Google Analytics to your Blogger blog. It’s a fairly simple process and doesn’t require any technical skill at all.

Step #1 - Setup a Google Analytics Account

Go to Google Analytics and sign in using your Blogger login. If your account doesn’t work for some reason, you can create a new one instead. Once you login you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

Click on the “Sign Up >>” button and proceed to the next step which will ask you for your general information. Website URL, Account Name, Country, and Time Zone.

If you noticed, I just put my Blogger url (without the http://) and called it “David’s Account” because this is your top-level container for 1 or 100 different websites so it’s a good idea to name it something more general. The next step will ask you for your contact information which includes your first name, last name, phone number, and country. Easy so far right?

Your last step in signing up will ask you to accept the user agreement terms and conditions which you should read (just kidding…who actually ever reads these entire legal terms anyhow?).

Now this next screen is very important. This is the code you will need to copy and paste into your blogger template. Go ahead and click into the box and it will automatically highlight the entire block of code for you. Now you need to copy that code and paste it into notepad or into a MS Word document. Save it as you’ll need to use it later.

After you click on the “continue >>” button you will be taken to your brand new Google Analytics dashboard! You will see your blogger blog listed but with no analytical data….yet.

Ok, now you are done with setting up your Google Analytics account. The next step is placing the tracking code into your Blogger template so it can report back to Google Analytics and provide you with some cool data points.

Step #2 - Adding GA Tracking Code to Your Blogger Template

This is not a very difficult step even if you are afraid to touch your template code. Login to your Blogger account and then click on the “Layout” => “Edit HTML” tabs. This will bring you to the template code. Before you make any changes, I advice you to back up your template just in case there are any problems. After you’ve done so, continue reading.

Now in the edit template html code window, scroll all the way to the bottom of your template code and look for the tag. There should only be one of these closing tags in your template. If you can’t find it then your template wasn’t properly created and you should add one right above the tag.The tag should always be your last line of code in your template. It signifies the end of your template.

Ok, now go back to the code you saved before in a Word Doc from Google Analytics. You are going to copy it and paste it right above the tag as illustrated in the image below. The yellow highlighted code is the new GA code I just pasted into my template.

Save your template and you shouldn’t get any error messages. If you do, it’s most likely not related to this GA code and something else with your template itself. Assuming you’ve been successful with your save, you are all done embedding the GA code in your template!

Step #3 - Confirm Google Analytics is Tracking

Go back into your Google Analytics account and look at your dashboard. Most likely you will see a little yellow exclamation mark under the “status” column that looks like this: . This means everything isn’t working properly yet which is fine because we are about to tell GA we just added the code. From your dashboard, click on the “edit” link which is located to the far right.

After you click on that link, you’ll see another screen like below. It will say “Tracking Not Installed” followed by a link “Check Status”. You’ll want to go ahead and click on that link which will tell GA to visit your site and look for the new code you just pasted in your template.

Assuming you pasted the code in there as instructed above, GA will find the new code and begin tracking everything on your blog. If you are still having problems, it’s most likely something to do with GA and you should read their help guide to troubleshoot your problem.

The message seen here, “Waiting for Data” means you have correctly setup GA and data is being gathered! Click on the top left Google Analytics logo and it will take you back to your dashboard. From there click on the “View report” link and that’s where all your very important Blogger visitor data will start appearing!

Now it usually takes an hour or so before you will see any data (maybe longer if you don’t get much traffic to your blog) so please be patient. Trust me, you’ll be logging in at least once a day just to see how much traffic your blog is getting. It’s very addicting and powerful information to learn from. You’ll be surprised which posts are your most popular and what countries people are coming from to read your blog.

Google Analytics is very powerful and we have just learned how to install it into your Blogger template. We haven’t even scratched the surface on the features and reporting it can do. For most Bloggers, this will be enough. Data will be collected and you will just review it. Others with more in-depth goals (like selling products or services, creating a sales funnel, etc) will want to spend more time learning GA. Why do companies pay for writing blogs in www.blogger.com ?

Let me explain this with an example.

When someone in New York city want to get their home painted, they will go to Google and search for "Painters in Google". Google will display several hundred results. The person will click on first few results in Google Search and choose one of them. The painting companies who are listed in top few results will get the business.

So, for 1000s of such companies, getting listed in top 10 results of Google search results is key to the success of their business.

Now, Google decides which company to list in the top of the search results ?

Google considers several factors including the following:

1. Content of the website - if the website's content includes the words 'Painters', 'New York' etc, then Google will understand that this site is about "Painters in New York" (but there will be 100s of such sites with similar content)

2. This is most important - Google will check how many of those sites have a link to their site from other sites using the keyword "Painters in New York". Google will assume that the site with most number of links is the most important site and will list that site in the top of the search results.

Now, when such companies pay us, our members will write blogs and articles with appropriate links to their website. This will increase the number of links to their site with the desired keywords and so help them to get listed in the top of the search results. This will in turn lead to more business for them
